"New York Dreams" is a love letter to old New York, from the tenements where Greg’s grandmother grew up, to the Bronx where his father played stickball in the streets. It’s an impressionistic flight through a place that’s long gone. A New York of Gershwin, Broadway, and old movies.
Some pieces were composed for Greg’s films. Others came from noodling around on the piano while his thoughts carried him away.
As the album came together, a thread of a story appeared and “New York Dreams” became a journey through a timeless day in the life of the city. A sun rises over an awakening metropolis. A morning stroll leads to new lovers meeting in the park. From there, the album moves through time, drifting off to other corners of Manhattan as night falls.
